What to look for
- Size 4 to 1/0 for most kid-friendly saltwater fish
- Circle hooks for bait fishing — they hook the lip, not the gut
- Barbless, or barbs you can pinch down with pliers
- Corrosion-resistant finishes so a lost hook rusts away faster
