Safe Casting Checklist
Before every cast, run this list with your grown-up.
Before I cast
- Look behind me — is there space?
- Look to both sides — anyone close?
- Point rod away from people and pets
- Check hook is secure on the line
- Say 'casting!' out loud
While I fish
- Keep the rod tip up
- Watch my line
- Never run with a rod
- Ask a grown-up before touching a fish
When I'm done
- Clip loose line and pack it out
- Cover hooks before packing
- Pick up trash near me
