Sun Safety
The sun on the water is stronger than the sun on land — light bounces off the surface and hits you twice. Sunburn on a boat is no fun.
Sunscreen every 2 hours
Put on SPF 30 or higher before you leave the house. Then reapply every 2 hours, or right after you get wet. Do not forget ears, the back of your neck, and the tops of your feet.
Hat + sunglasses = superpower
A wide-brim or long-bill hat shades your face and eyes. Polarized sunglasses cut glare so you can see fish in the water — and they protect your eyes from stray hooks.
Cover up on long trips
A light long-sleeve sun shirt keeps you cooler than a t-shirt and blocks UV all day. Ask your adult about SPF clothing on all-day trips.
