Waves & Rocks

The ocean is powerful and moves faster than it looks. Waves and jetty rocks are two of the top reasons anglers get hurt. Respect them.

Ask an Adult
Always fish with a grown-up. Ask before touching a fish, tying on a hook, or trying something new.

Never turn your back on the ocean

Sneaker waves are bigger waves that come out of nowhere. If you are on the rocks or the beach, always keep one eye on the water.

Jetty rocks are slippery

Wet rocks, algae, and mussels make jetties treacherous. Wear grippy shoes, take small steps, and never run.

Move up when a set comes

Waves come in groups called sets. If the water looks bigger for a minute, back away from the edge until it calms down.
