Lost at the Gaff, Then This! Gary’s Cherry Bank Bluefin on the Apollo 🎣
Just got a first-hand report from Gary Augustin, fresh off the Apollo out of San Diego. Gary left Friday on a 2-day. Bait was an issue, the way it has been. They fished Tanner on Saturday and it was not much. Then the Apollo made the move to Cherry Bank for the larger bluefin.
That is where it turned. Gary got bit on a 300 gram tungsten and a 250 gram rip roller. He said a 400 would have been perfect. First fish came off at the gaff. The photo is the redemption fish. The boat ended up with about 6 bluefin in the 120–150 lb class, plus one striped marlin. Gary said the boat and crew were great, same as always.
Cherry Bank is putting out the bigger bluefin. If you are looking at a 2-day out of San Diego, that is the report straight from the deck.
