Wahoo on the Pride! Capt. Michael Potvin Lands a Rare Wahoo 70 Miles South of San Pedro
Capt. Michael Potvin just called Friedman Adventures from the Pride, running out of 22nd Street Landing in San Pedro, and the news is the kind that makes you sit up.
They are 70 miles south of the harbor on a 1.5-day trip. As of 1:00 this afternoon they already had limits of yellowfin tuna, 30 bullet tuna, 7 dorado, 3 marlin released — and one wahoo.
That last fish is the headline.
Wahoo have been showing on several boats today. The bite that used to live hundreds of miles down the Baja coast is stretching all the way up into Southern California waters. El Niño 2026 is writing a new chapter, and the Pride is right in the middle of it.
Capt. Michael told us they still have several hours of fishing left. If this morning was any indication, the afternoon could get even crazier.
The Pride is a 50-foot custom sportfisher owned and operated by Capt. Michael Potvin. She runs comfortable 3/4-day through multi-day trips out of 22nd Street Landing with air-conditioned bunks, a full galley, Starlink, and a crew that knows how to put people on fish.
He has a few charter dates still available. Starting in October the Pride also runs lobster hoop-net trips — a great combo if you want bugs and fish on the same overnight.
