Ava Wagoneer Lands Her First Yellowtail Ever Off Redondo Beach Rocks! 🎣🔥

Congratulations to Ava Wagoneer on landing her very first yellowtail! Ava caught this beautiful fish off the rocks in Redondo Beach, California on a Lucky Craft lure. It’s always special when a young angler gets to experience that first yellowtail, and doing it from the shore in the LA area makes it even more memorable. Awesome job, Ava — you should be proud of this catch!
Many years ago when I was working on the Redondo boats, a warm water discharge right nearby used to pull in tons of yellowtail. That discharge has been gone for a long time, so we haven’t seen nearly as many around lately. This one could be a one-off, but it might also be another sign of the 2026 El Niño starting to push more yellowtail into Southern California waters around LA and Orange County. Either way, it’s great news for the future of our local fishing!
