Bluefin Bite Rebounding in Southern California β 100+ lb Monsters Signal Big Things Ahead! π£π₯

Last night the Pacific Voyager, with Captain Max Neue at the helm on Jolene Thompsonβs two-day charter, scored 9 bluefin tuna near Tanner Bank β and 8 of them were over 100 pounds!
Not to be outdone, Jeff Lingle (who runs a yacht taking VIPs fishing) worked from Tanner Bank all the way to the backside of Santa Barbara Island and put 7 bluefin tuna in the boat, all over 100 pounds, including one monster that weighed 165 pounds.
The Independence also checked in with several quality fish last night.
What makes these numbers even more impressive? Everything happened during a full moon (widely considered a tough time for bluefin) and in windy conditions. Captain Max Neue reported seeing sizable schools of bluefin β the most heβs seen in quite a while. Captain Brian Pifer on the Independence was equally encouraged and hopeful that this is the start of a real bluefin tuna rebound in Southern California.
With the windy weather, heavier jigs were the ticket β 400g jigs, tungsten jigs, and Eddy bombs all producing well.
The consensus among the captains is clear: as the wind lays down and we get further from the full moon, the bite is set to rebound in a big way.
