Big Yellowtail Hammering Yo-Yo Iron | Carlos Cortez Coronado Islands 🎣🔥

Big yellowtail are biting at the Coronado Islands this morning for Captain Carlos Cortez and Cortez Sportfishing out of Popotla, Baja California. Carlos is reporting good fishing on nice big yellowtail, the weather is absolutely perfect, and these fish have been eager to bite on the yo-yo iron.

Carlos highly recommends you do not go lighter than 40-pound test, and 50-pound is the better call. There is a lot of structure around those islands, and these yellowtail are smart. They will run you right back into a rock or some other structure and get their freedom if you are too light.

Popotla is about a 15-minute drive south of Rosarito Beach, so Rosarito is the easy place to stay if you are heading down to fish with him.

When Carlos turns for home, he will be looking over the kelp paddies for dorado, yellowfin tuna and whatever else is holding. He will also be trolling in hopes of another wahoo or marlin.
