Sum Fun Dorado Limits! 15-30lb+ Flatheads on Kelp Paddy – Dana Wharf Wide Open 🎣🔥

The Sum Fun out of Dana Wharf Sportfishing put on a clinic today with a wide-open dorado bite that had anglers filling sacks and reaching limits in a hurry. Howard Moore was one of the anglers on board and reported that the crew worked hard to locate the right kelp paddy. When they found it, the action was as good as it gets—quality 15- to 20-pound dorado all over the place, with some fish pushing over 30 pounds in the mix.

Moore said sardines were the ticket. Twenty-five-pound fluorocarbon with a #20 hook got the bites, but the fish were so aggressive that 40-pound fluorocarbon was also producing. “All you had to do was cast a bait out and in an instant you had another dorado,” he said. He reached his 10-fish limit on these beautiful flatheads and then sat back to enjoy the show as the bite stayed wide open.

Southern California anglers are already asking if this kind of fishing is about to erupt again. The last really wide-open local dorado and offshore bite that a lot of people remember came in the fall of 2020, when boats were racking up solid dorado and yellowfin numbers in U.S. waters. Today’s action on the Sum Fun has people wondering if similar conditions are lining up once more.
