The Pacific Voyager out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego just scored a solid striped marlin estimated at 120 pounds or better. This fish ate a KK Pono marlin jig — the first time Captain Max Neue had one in the water, and it got smoked in the first couple of hours.

Southern California is seeing way more striped marlin this year, and many are pointing to the ongoing El Niño 2026 as a big reason. The warm water push is bringing more of these billfish into local range, and the action looks like it still has a long way to go.
