CALICO LIMITS + QUALITY YELLOWTAIL on the Estella! Capt. Hadawi 🎣🔥

Captain Daniel Hadawi on the Estella out of Hooks Landing in Oxnard is reporting excellent calico bass fishing with a real shot at some nice, quality yellowtail.

On today’s trip they put limits of nice calico bass in the box and landed four yellowtail out of ten hookups. The fish are so hungry right now they were eating half a dead mackerel or half a dead squid. That’s hungry, lol.

There has been some yo-yo iron action too. Be ready to fish live mackerel if you can make enough of it — and making enough of it means snagging it with Sabiki rigs. Bring swimbaits, yo-yo iron, and 8 to 12 ounce torpedo sinkers. Hook sizes from #2 to 5/0.

Calicos are also coming on a dropper loop with a chunk of squid on the bottom, and on a ¾ to ½ ounce sliding egg sinker with squid or a strip of mackerel.

Weather is shifting from breezy to much nicer. Over the next several days it should keep improving, and that is only going to help this bite. Excellent fishing on the Estella.
