Capt. Evan Vejar’s First Wahoo: Pacific Voyager Scores Off Rosarito Beach 🎣🔥

Capt. Evan Vejar is on the wheel of the Pacific Voyager while Capt. Max Neue takes some well-deserved time off. The plan was south — wahoo, yellowfin tuna, dorado, marlin, and whatever else this El Niño water is pushing north.

They did not have to wait long.

On the way down they put the jigs in the water off Rosarito Beach, Baja California Norte. A jig strike. A wahoo. First one Capt. Vejar has ever seen.

That is how close this bite has come. More and more wahoo are showing. Several boats have gotten in on it, and the Ensenada panga fleet has been catching them too.

“Yeah orange marauder thanks Phil! First wahoo I’ve ever seen.”

When the fish hit:

“Oh yeah that clicker was singing.”

And where they go next:

“Will do! We’re bombing south this is day 1 of our 4 so hopefully we get more.”

Passengers are seeing their first wahoo. So are captains and crews. That is El Niño 2026.
