Breaking News: Wide Open Yellowfin Tuna on the Ranger Bank – American Angler Reports 20-55 lb Class!

Patrick Hrnjack checked in this morning from aboard the American Angler with breaking news as they fish the Ranger Bank. After a slow day yesterday, the boat moved up the Baja coast and the action flipped in a big way.

“Wide open YFT this morning on the Ranger Bank. Better quality. Call it 20-25 lb class with a few standouts around 55lbs.”

The yellowfin are biting hard right now in solid 20- to 25-pound class with nicer standouts pushing around 55 pounds. It’s really excellent fishing and the crew is into the fish. Anglers in San Diego and friends in Ensenada, Baja California are watching closely, hoping these fish keep pushing north.

Water temperatures remain very warm. Hurricane Trudy is brewing as a major Category 3 storm off Mexico’s Pacific coast, and the El Niño continues to intensify. If this pattern holds, we could be catching exotic fish well into the new year. Great fishing on the American Angler and more updates coming as they keep everybody in the loop.
