The California Natural Resources Agency, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, California State Parks, California Academy of Sciences and California Volunteers invite the public to join the celebration for California Biodiversity Day 2026. With more than 180 events taking place across the state from September 5-13, the nine-day celebration will offer opportunities for all to connect with nature and learn simple ways to help protect and steward the environment.

Del Norte County Razor Clam Fishery Opens After One-Month Closure Due to Public Health Hazard

California Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Meghan Hertel has opened the recreational razor clam fishery in Del Norte County following a recommendation from state health agencies that domoic acid no longer poses a significant threat to human health if consumed.

CDFW Announces Angling Closure at the Mouth of the Klamath River

  • August 28, 2026

The spit fishery at the mouth of the Klamath River will be closed to angling at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2. Based on CDFW projections of the recreational fall-run Chinook Salmon harvest, anglers will have met the “spit area” adult fall-run Chinook Salmon quota of 15 percent of the total Klamath River Basin recreational allocation of fish caught below the Highway 101 bridge.
