Life Jackets
A life jacket only works if you're wearing it. Most people who drown in boat accidents were not wearing one when they hit the water.
Wear it — don't just carry it
On boats, kayaks, paddleboards, and near deep water, put it on before you get moving. You may not have time to grab it if something goes wrong.
Fit matters
Straps should be snug. If you can pull the jacket up over your ears, it is too loose and can slip off in the water.
Coast Guard approved
Look for the 'US Coast Guard Approved' label. Pool toys and floaties are NOT life jackets.
